WELCOME

If you’re interested in what the emergence of real-time interactive streaming (RTIS) means to just about every aspect of life in cyberspace, you’ve come to the right place.

UltraMedia Pipeline is dedicated to the proposition that RTIS infrastructure as an essential alternative to the prevailing one-way streaming grid is set to usher in a new generation of ultramedia apps and services across the consumer and commercial markets. We at Dawson-Tanner Communications intend to fill a major information void when it comes to providing the in-depth coverage decision makers need to help guide them in their transitions to capitalizing on opportunities in this new environment.

Our initial lineup of articles, videos, stats and references to third-party insights is representative of the breadth as well as the depth of what we’ll be covering as this new era unfolds. Beyond developments pertaining directly to RTIS, we’re looking at the cutting edges across a wide range of activities involving use of video streaming on the understanding that, whether or not RTIS is immediately involved, what’s happening at the cutting edges has a bearing on how RTIS will be put to use wherever and whenever it comes into play.

Currently you’ll find news and insights involving new directions in media production, AI usage, live sports UX, advertising, content protection, encoding and packaging, quality control, 5G, surveillance, and much else. And coverage touching on many other topics is in the works.

But we don’t want UltraMedia Pipeline just to be about what we have to report. We welcome your comments and will continue to host interviews and contributions that bring information and insights from others into the mix.

Real-Time WebRTC Streaming Gains Traction as New Protocol Takes Shape

The OTT sector’s intensifying focus on radically reducing end-to-end live streaming latency has unleashed an outpouring of ground-breaking innovations along with a great deal of confusion over what goals need to be met, how to meet them and how long it will take to get there with some assurance of profitability. The challenge is to make sure aspirations aren’t limited by lack of knowledge about what can be done.

Fighting Piracy against Live-Streamed Content

Mitigating Live Sports Streaming Piracy

Live sports streaming is surging to a new and dominant role in sportscasting with major implications for how license holders go about monetizing and protecting their assets. In a nutshell, as ever more sports producers move to live streaming, the potential losses to thriving, ultra-sophisticated online piracy is growing exponentially.

In this paper, we explore the risk implications, the piracy techniques, and consumer appetite for stolen content underlying pirates’ success. We conclude by describing the steps that can be taken to maximize the effectiveness of anti-piracy measures.

While the types of solutions are well known, the nuances that distinguish more successful approaches are less well understood. With so much at stake, it’s time to take far-reaching actions enabled by the best anti-piracy tools available to ensure maximum returns on producers’ efforts to deliver what consumers want.
